Kathryn M. Zunich, MD

Expert in Clinical Drug Development

Dr. Kathryn M. Zunich brings to Iasis Partners 27 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry and more than 32 years’ overall experience in clinical trials and drug development covering a wide range of products and therapeutic indications.  Her experience as a clinician and clinical trials investigator enhances her ability to advise clients regarding clinical drug development and safety issues.  Prior to founding Iasis Partners, Dr. Zunich was an independent medical consultant to the pharmaceutical industry for 10 years, during which time she played significant leadership roles in five successful NDAs and made major contributions to the strategic planning and implementation of numerous INDs.  

Dr. Zunich's formal industry experience began at Syntex Research in Palo Alto, California and continued at Univax Biologics in Rockville, Maryland where she held director positions in development programs for each of two drugs that gained regulatory approval.  Prior to joining industry, Dr. Zunich served as Program Officer at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland where she conducted clinical trials in HIV infection and associated complications, and oversaw a portfolio of grants in allergy, immunology, and transplantation.  

Dr. Zunich is a board-certified Internist with subspecialty training in Allergy and Immunology.  Her B.S. degree is in Natural Science from Fordham University in New York and her M.D. degree is from Upstate Medical University of the State University of New York at Syracuse.  She received her internship and residency training in Internal Medicine and Primary Care at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center of New York before completing a post-doctoral fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at National Jewish Health (formerly National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine) and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver where she began her early work as an investigator in clinical trials and drug development.  

Dr. Zunich is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, and the American College of Physicians, and is the author or co-author of a number of peer-reviewed publications including original research and review articles.  

R. Brooke Lewis, J.D. / Managing Partner

R. Brooke Lewis, J.D.

General Counsel

As General Counsel, R. Brooke Lewis brings to the company over 35 years' experience as a lawyer.  His background is primarily in insurance, defense and tort liability issues, and in advising clients in the pharmaceutical industry.  Mr. Lewis is responsible for the legal affairs of Iasis Partners.  

Mr. Lewis is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, and is a member of the District of Columbia Bar.  He has participated in cases before the federal courts in a number of different states, including multi-million dollar tort liability cases involving multiple parties and jurisdictions, different state laws, and overlapping and conflicting contractual and insurance provisions.  

Mr. Lewis has served as both Appraiser and Umpire in disputes between corporate insurers and policyholders.  He is of counsel to the International Business Law Firm in Washington, DC and is available to consult with clients directly on legal issues through that firm.  

A graduate of Washington and Lee University and the Washington and Lee University School of Law, Mr. Lewis presently serves as Chairman of the Lexington Principles Project, supported by the School of Law.  He has written for the ABA Air and Space Law section on developing trends in general aviation liability insurance.  

Mr. Lewis is a Commercial, Instrument-Rated pilot.  He flies the aircraft available to Iasis Partners for company business.
